David, why should there be so much interest in A850, specially when there is no video (I'm not saying I want it or not)?
Maybe the price...

I will quote someone on dpreview:
In the soon-to-be-released A850, Sony is about to offer a full frame DSLR with the image quality of an $8000 D3X for less than $2000 and all I see on this forum is a bunch of nonsense about "crippled" cameras and "recycled technology" and how nobody "needs" that kind of quality.

Unbelievable.

If the price rumors turn out to be true then I can see why lots of photographers will be very interested in the A850.

You're right , Henry.
And that is a concern, i.e. to buy a camera just for the price...

I can imagine the A850 being my next camera body - may be not soon. I suspect for a hobbyist such as myself the A900 is always going to be bit steep in price. I think there are at least 3 options for me, body wise, as my next upgrade. A850 if it ever gets <£1000, or bargain A700 when it is replaced, or A5xx series. Interesting times :D
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Not to buy it just for the price, Doc, but to buy it because we can justify buying that many MPs for that price. If it's not crippled, but just has a cheaper body and viewfinder, there really isn't anything you're losing over the 900, function and picture quality wise.

Who here wouldn't buy a 900 for $2K if we could? Only those who couldn't afford $2K! Some may say they can't afford CZ or G glass, but it can do impressive things with a Beercan, from what I've seen.
