I know this is a Konica-Minolta/Sony forum, but I respect the experience and the opinions of the users here. Anyway, I think I've got a mad crush on this camera. Though the zoom range is of limited use, it is very wide at the wide end and more importantly, it is faster than any SLR zoom! It seems to be a P&S in the same spirit as the Sony F717.

If I wasn't certain my wife would freak out about "yet another camera," I'd go buy this camera for light travel and let the Sony be the "working camera," or else use it as my standard zoom for wedding receptions and use the a700 with the beercan or primes. What are your thoughts?

I guess because I have the Lecia M7 and M8 system I bought the D lux4 for a point and shoot when it first came out a several weeks ago.
From what I understand basically the same as the LX3 with the exception of how it renders its jpeg images. JPG images out of the Lecia dlux 4 look alot like the M8. Quality control and the JPG engine is a little different than that in the LX3.
I’m not saying that’s any better than the LX3 its just what I’m used to using to seeing with the M8.
This past Sunday I got my hands on the Ricoh GX 200 and I would have to say I am more impressed with the Ricoh because I find it a little more users friendly and has more control. Just my thoughts.
ISO above 200-400 I do not like very much with either camera unless I am using it for B/W pictures. Actually 100 is best for what I like. Then again I come from a world Kodacrome 25, and Velvia 50. Not sure this helps any but its my cents worth.

I can probably say without checking that the Leica dlux 4 is quite a bit more expensive than the Panasonic...
