Photoclubalpha photomissions, or even competitions?

Apologies if this has been discussed before but, has it ever been considered to stage forum photo missions; a weekly topic or subject chosen by a member of your choice, or (and I suggest this reluctantly as I would have little chance  ) competitions?

I found that when I did my OU course the motive to go on the hunt, driven by an outside influence, really helped my photography. But with the weather like it is here at the moment there is less incentive to make the effort (except for my monthly photo club competitions).

What do others think?

If I could make the Gallery integrate better with the Forum, I would start this going. Let me think. Maybe another Forum section.

Since you mentioned about the gallery David, I have to point out the impossibility to add pictures. Every time it mentioned about the limit. :? :?:

I think some themed 'missions' would be a good idea to get people taking and posting pictures, a competitive element might put some off however (we find this with my local camera club-only about 1/2 of the membership actually enter images in the competitions), it would be a good learning tool for us all if we share techniques etc.

A weekly turnaround would keep it fresh, but be quite hard for those of us with full-time careers outside of photography

Just my thoughts

Cheers
