Feels like Denial of Service attacks. The site is either very fast or dead slow...nothing in between.

I agree, the same thing crossed my mind also, while we had the slo-mo going on...

It was just an increase from 1600 visitors a day to 8000 visitors for a day, then a gradual fall off. I'm sure there was no other cause.

The problem I see is digital. The forum is either very fast or unusable. Nothing in-between.

No connection Dusty, all down to Alpha 850 hysteria on the main web pages, plus the A380 review and Crop vs Cram article, which has gathered some permanent links from other Alpha related sites as recommended reading. Don has emailed me privately to ask me to remove posts which attack or insult him and his work, mentioning your last post as an example. I don't think it constitutes an attack or insult but there is no real need to bring Don or his past history here into any future threads.

And that is a concern, i.e. to buy a camera just for the price...

I can imagine the A850 being my next camera body - may be not soon. I suspect for a hobbyist such as myself the A900 is always going to be bit steep in price. I think there are at least 3 options for me, body wise, as my next upgrade. A850 if it ever gets <£1000, or bargain A700 when it is replaced, or A5xx series. Interesting times
