Note that this 14 MP CMOS is primarily for cell phones. Samsung and Sony are now releasing 12 MP cell phones. If 14 MP will be the top of cell phone range next year, expect it to be the bottom of DSLR's range. But here come in play strong diffraction issues. That is another reason, why EVIL cameras will be dominating in the future. Canon came out with 18 MP "less than APSC factor" camera that does not make much sense. If it was an EVIL camera, 18 MP would not be a problem. With primes, where the rear element could sit very close to the sensor, much higher resolution will be easily achievable - without the need to go FF.
