Photography Podcasts

Unread post by Birma »

I've recently aquired one of these trendy new smart phone devices that does everything except make a good espresso, and as part of this I'm discovering podcasts that can be a welcome change from music sometimes. I was browsing on iTunes for podcasts and I wondered if there would be any about photography. There are a lot. I wondered if anybody had an recommendations?

I didn't recognise any after a quick glance through (other than Nilkon and Adorama) so I've picked a couple at random to see what they are like and I'll report back.

 I'm just discovering this myself. Here is the wikipedia deifnition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast. In lay terms it is a way of downloading serialised digital audio (and video I believe) content to your iPod type decive (and now phone!). In the UK a lot of BBC radio programmes are available as podcasts - your iPod downloads the lastest episode in your chosen series so that it is avilable to listen to when you are out and about. The ability to produce a podcast is obviously available to anybody with a computer and a microphone. Yesterday while out getting lunch I listened to an interesting episode produced by Photography Monthly (UK photo mag) which included interviews with a pro who was covering the Tour De France, and a 'street photographer' called Peter Dench (sometimes gritty but keenly observed stuff http://peterdench.com/#). I guess it can be used as advertising (e.g. Nikon do it), to widen the appeal of your other media (e.g. paper based Magazines do it), and also if you just want to publish your voice to the world.
