Durchsprung vor Technik

Unread post by bossel »

Sorry if I am late with this topic - read it in Davids A55 announcement just before leaving for vacation  Now I am sure David knows it's not "Durchsprung vor Technik" but "Vorsprung durch Technik". It's a slogan car maker Audi uses for marketings and TV spots in Germany (not sure about the UK). And I just don't get it why David uses it - is there something I am missing?

Yes, it's a joke Thomas - refers to people who pick up phrases and get them mixed up, in the pub. This was always a classic one to get wrong. To Brits, the meaning was not always entirely translucent.

Thanks David, I knew I was missing something. I also love to play with words, though having to do so in 3 languages is kind of a problem - still I manage to surprise my french collegues sometimes by seeing word-plays they don't see. Be the "Luce" with us
