Why do I need such a long user name ? 12 characters seems like a lot. I notice some have much shorter names. Just curious, thanks.

Could be site updates due to spambots logging on and creating accounts. I got my short name way back in '08.

I keep changing the registration requirements but nothing seems to stop the flood of spammer registrations. I remove 50-100 every few days and have to rely on people's intelligence to create user names I trust - like yours!
