With the switch to digital, hardly anyone getting prints made, and now even movies shot on video instead of film, Kodak, like the buggy whip manufacturers before them, are slowly fading away.

My Kodachromes, however, will still be good for another 100 years!

It is sad, but Kodak screwed up big time. It is not the first company that has been around for a long time to disappear or almost disappear. We probably all have fond memories of using Kodak film and I still remember using my mother's old Kodak Brownie box camera that used 620 film. It was the first camera I ever used. I think this is it:

Surprisingly, Kodak acted like a stereotypical change-resistant Japanese firm, while Fujifilm acted like a flexible American one.

Now if Ilford went down I'd be pretty upset, I lie I'd freak out and forums would quake with pain.
As for Kodak quite liked Ektar 100, mostly prefer Fujifilm for negatives. From a nostalgia point I suppose we would miss them.
Head screwed on viewpoint, they are the victims of their own stupidity many saw this coming a long time ago.

I'll admit I'm still pretty angry about the Kodachrome 64 saga after than I swore I'd never buy a roll of Kodak film again. And I have not

I can't put this on any other forum because... if Kodak comes back they might be annoyed and not find any of the sponsorship money which they have not had for the last five years.

It was completely insane to try to change film formats yet they pushed ahead anyway. Then digital came along and the rest is history.
I liked the article and I agree it's "not all over yet" But you have to wonder where they go from here and what will Kodak be after all of this.

I used to use XP1 & 2, but when BW cn400 came along, I discovered I preferred it to them, as I feel it has a better tonal range, and a more conventional film look in the grain structure. It is also less prone to the sepia & blue colour casts of the Ilfords when printed on colour paper. If the big yellow giant goes, I will miss it, if only for the dozen or so rolls I still use each year.

I did alway love Kodak Royal paper when having prints done...damn!
