SD card recommendations.

OK, first off, I'm not sure where to put this, so if it's the wrong board, I'm sure DK will move it.

I have had a wee accident with an 8gb SDHC card, which has a small piece of plastic broken off the casing behind the contacts. I have no idea where, when or how this happened, as I haven't found the missing piece, and the only places the card lived were the camera slot and my card reader. I digress.

I am, therfore, looking for a sturdy replacement card, class 10, with a good casing, and would appreciate any recommendations. The duffer is an Integral Ultima Pro.

That's why I wish they would stick with the CF cards - much more robust.

I had a problem with a Kingston CF and my KM 7D. It was very, very slow, and I found a lot of traffic on the web from other people who had the same issue with their 7D cameras - although cameras from other manufacturers did not seem to report such issues. The card always worked, but it was painfully slow.

I have not heard of such problems with the Kingston cards since then, but I've avoided them myself just as a precaution.

I've only broken one SD card (still works case damaged)
Transcend do an industrial SD range I know they have wider operating temps I "assume" they have harder/tougher plastic but I can't say never used one.

I had a look at the Transcend website, and I don't see any difference between the standard & industrial cards.

I have a Kingston card on the way from Amazon, so I should be back in proper action by Monday.

I have a few old Sandisk (blue ones) which have been used in point and shoots for over 5 years all without issue. More recently on acquiring the A580 a year ago I bought a couple of 16GB Transcend class 10 both still intact and well used.
