Are photography clubs getting more like photoshop clubs, lots of images are more like artwork than straight photos.

He does have a point I think. Some competitions restrict the level of PP.
I do see a lot of software use (it's not using it that's a problem, it overusing it I think the issue is)

I once read an article on dodge and burn in a magazine and they utterly mangled the images beyond any sort of sensible approach. So I do think the software element is probably a bit overdone in many clubs, and in general. But yes there is room for everyone.

I like being a non conformist at times I refuse to use ND grads with purple tints just one example. Ultimately more rewarding if making life a bit harder.

i was thinking of a chap at my club who did some images( and very good they were too) of a small boat stuck in the mud in the thames estuary the time he finished with it looked more a work of fine art than a photograph, and yes i was impressed.
Please dont think i am disaproving of it, i just was thinking it should have its own section in the club world. Having said that i wish i had that amount of photoshop skill he was in a class of his own. His name is Brian Beany check his web sight just google the name, and honestly i am not bitter!.
