I wonder if this is the Toshiba sensor ala the D5200 sensor (seen banding in that sensor too)
I "assume" the shadows were lifted in post, but still I would not expect banding at this ISO level.

I don't see the banding you're talking about in that image. What am I looking for?

Look in the cockpit area shadows quite obvious banding there. Also the pilots jacket the colour has gone out of gamut and some banding there too
