Hi guys!
What do you do if your lens has visible dust inside?
My lens' front element has some visible "dust" inside. I dont know if I can even call it dust coz it's like really minute strands.
The problem is, it's visible in the shots.
I know it will take professional help to have the lens cleaned from inside, but do you have any other advice about this?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Dust inside the lens.
In some types of zoom or wide-angle dust inside the lens can become visible at small apertures, but it is extremely rare. Threads would indicate that the lens has fungus, not dust, and sometimes this can affect cemented components (the fungus attacks the glue used to bond the cemented pair). Even if the external surfaces can be cleaned, full dismantling and rebuilding of a lens costs many times the original purchase price. In short, if what you say is true, it's cheaper to find a new lens. Sorry!

So, what my front element has could be fungus not dust. I've read about dust being visible at small apertures, but I'm shooting wide, and it still shows.
I would try to post some pictures of my lens, so you can see.

Re: Dust inside the lens.
If it shows and you are shooting wide open, what you are seeing is on the sensor, not on the lens. You may need to post an example here for people to look at.

I would post some pictures later.
I would usually use the "Clean ccd" option on the a100 after everytime I get my battery charged. And also, the sensor is shaken everytime you turn the camera on or off, right?
Is it a usual thing for dust to get stuck in the sensor even after all that vibration?
Thanks for you quick response David!

Yes dust is a problem and the sensor cleaning on alphas are not 100% as you already noticed. Try to shoot a blue sky, and all your dusts will be obvious.alissond wrote:I would post some pictures later.
