Some shots from the Big Ma. Loving the reach and the clarity.

A very delayed congratulation to ruthless over his purchase of this new lens. I notice from the Sigma site that this lens is without OS in the Sony and Pentax versions. Would ruthless or any other owner of this lens please confirm that there is no OS action and that the lens functions fully as a normal (no inbuilt antishake) lens. I notice that the Sigma (for Sony) 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM does not have OS either but I seem to recall that David Kilpatrick wrote about this lens and it had OS built in. Perhaps he was just using a Nikon or Canon. Can anyone remember or clarify? My position is that at some stage I will want this lens or the Tamron equivalen but preferably without lens OS.

Eventually it looks as if all the long Sigma zooms will have OS, probably be larger and heavier, and may not focus as close. As each model is replaced, the new one will tend to go that way. Sony Alpha mount models may either be the older type, or a newer type with just the OS removed.

I guess that in time some legendary discontinued versions will be identified - to the benefit of anyone buying one cheap just at the point they are discontinued.
