Tamron 28-200 for A900

Has anyone used the Tamron 28-200 (newest Di version) with A900 as holiday / walk about lens?

I don't use to talk about things I don't know. I only had an idea about superzooms: they are not good. Until I try the Minolta 35-200 Xi that is outstanding, even on a FF camera. Only minus is the powerzoom system, that most people just don't like (but AF is quite fast)

Anyway, you have to go wide down to 28? don't you want two "light" lenses? why not a Minolta 28-105 and a 100-200? or the 35-200 Xi and a 28mm or 24mm f2.8?

The Tamron 24-135 appears to be very good on FF from what I've seen. I'd rather sacrifice the long end for a bit more wide angle.

You are probably right. I have a fair collection of lenses from sony 20 to Bigma - but don't like changing lenses when I'm on holiday - particularly with my 'better half' who is a non-photographer. She has enough to put up with!

I shot Bronica GS1 for 10 yrs (great quality but SO... painful and no final control) and D2X and 18-200VR for two/three years. Now A900 since it first arrived. I have 2K+ pics on Alamy and sub to 4 other libraries - all sell reasonably well. Nobody has ever complained about quality - Alamy included. I combine shots (a la Photo-Accute) if anything very special comes up.

BUT I just want to enjoy holiday abroad ('ash' permitting!) and snap away without stopping to change + carry other lenses. I have also missed pics changing lenses -the one I am using is always the wrong one!

I heard the Tammy 28-200 also 28-300 (newest versions) are pretty good (stopped to 11) on A900. I'm new on this forum and just wondered if anyone had tried it/them.

I understand Shirley K is more into the SuperZooms, but I think she's into APS cameras too, so I don't think she had tried the 28-200 -in any case you'll have to wait a couple of days because last news was they were stuck in Turkey, waiting for plane to Scotland...

Don't you have any photo store near you that carry that lens, so you can briefly try it yourself and see if you like it?
