New Sigma 120-300 / 2.8

Post by peterottaway »

Well if it is in A-Mount this time then no one really needs to worry about the cost of the new Sony 300 / 2.8.

Although like all these big lenses a few hours on the weight machine in the local gym may help out.

MSRP at $4700 and close to 3Kg in weight, but it doesn’t matter as it’s not listed for Sony only Sigma, Canon and Nikon.

There is a huge difference in price between Sigma price list and the street price. Camerastore in Adelaide has the original lens in Nikon mount for AUD 2398 which is some AUD 800 less than the Sigma 300 / 2.8. So if I needed such a lens in my Nikon system this is what I would be looking at.

Hopefully Sigma will see itself able to provide some of these lenses in the A-Mount as they can't be selling more than a token number in their Sigma mount.
