
I believe Olaf has said that the 100-300 APO was at its worse at 100mm, but I can't tell.
By the way, I think that panning works OK with SSS.

Definitely a move up for me. I guess you can always use more focal length, but after a while, it becomes harder to get a small lens that captures enough light cheaply, so I think this'll will keep me for quite a while. (I also tried a teleconverter, which didn't work out as well as I'd hoped for aircraft, but it might do better on stationary targets.)
I guess the lens doesn't have that super crisp sharpness of some lenses, but it seems to have a lot of detail to me. Or perhaps just enough. And I can use it at f5.6 without worrying about the loss of detail too much (although, better if you can step it down a bit, I think). Autofocus works pretty well -- not terribly fast, but seems accurate.
I need to use the lens some more, but I'm pleased with the results.
