CZ Jena ID anyone?

Browsing in the LCE Nottingham shop today I found in their second hand cabinet a Carl Zeiss Jena AF Zoom 70-210 f4.5-5.6 Macro.

It has a push/pull zoom action (very smooth) and auto focussed quickly, if not a little noisely, on one of their alpha 700s. Complete with leather tubular case.

I bought it for £9.99 in a moment of curiosity and have rattled off a few snaps of my cat indoors (as it was pitch dark when I got home) with the alpha 100 sans onboard flash and they aren't too bad.

Anyone throw any more light on this oddity? It's in very good condition, feels not unlike a baby beercan and although I have no need of it myself it might fit into someone's collection.

All you can be fairly sure of is that it's not really CZ Jena unless it actually says Made in DDR or something similar on it. They did a deal with Japanese makers to buy in some lenses and rebrand them in the 1990s. Have a careful look at it.
