70-300G and CA

People have reported that this lens doesn;t produce any CA. does that mean it can't? Is it possible to make any lens exibit this? the reason I ask is I have a few shots of geese against a bright cloudy sky. (late day smooth bright overcast)... the shots aren;t really exposed right but they all show purple edges starting when you zoom about 70-80%. not as bad as My BBC would have done but I wasn't expecting to see it. the sky was bright but these shots don't have the sun in them.

It does produce CA. It's pretty good, but anyone who suggests it is entirely CA free is probably using APS-C only. I didn't spot any on APS-C, it's more visible to the edges of the frame on A900 - generally in extreme conditions wide open. There are not many teles around which produce LESS though, even the 70-200mm SSM f/2.8 throws up more CA.

I took a few more tough shots today and theres no visible CA. shots the BBC would have messed pretty badly too
