Polariser for Cokin-P System?

Unread post by Birma »

I am after a polariser I can use with the Cokin-P System so that I can stack filters (e.g. ND grad and polariser). I was about to spring for the Cokin circular version (no. 164 I think) which is about £55 on the web. I then came across Kood who make compatible filters for the Cokin P system, and their circular is only around £12. This difference makes it sound the like the Kood (UK manufactured?) is inferior quality. Web reviews are mixed for the Kood; some say it's ok, but others rubbish it. I just wondered if any of the trusty, balanced folk around here ( :D ) had tried anything from Kood and could offer an opinion?

They bought a very reputable filter manufacturer and gave it a silly name so everyone trashes them. Actually, if they had not called themselves Kood people would probably take them seriously. The quality is equal to Cokin, who have a sensible name, after founder M. Jean Coquin - although his first name for his filter range, Cromofilter, was rather better.

Thank you David. I will give the Kood a try. It is a relatively large price difference and at least I'll be supporting the UK manufacturer - not an opportunity that you get very often at present :? .

The Kood came through, from an Amazon reseller, for about £13 with P&P, so quite a bargain. Just looking through the filter and turning it it seems to polarize nicely. I will post a few shots once the sun has come out :D .
