Tamron 10-24mm

Davids comment about the new Tamron 10-24mm not being recommended can you expand please.
It's very unsharp wide open towards the edge of the field at moderatel close distances and 10mm, it has poor geometry compared to the 11-18mm or the 10-20mm Sigma, and the overall sharpness of the lens (at any aperture, focal length, and disance) doesn't match up to the less ambitious earlier designs.
Simple as that - they made a lens with a faster maximum aperture and the wider zoom range, and it turns out to be optically inferior to the more conservative earlier design/s. I guess that the earlier models will cease to be available, and the Tamron 10-24 will be the only new choice by next year (plus the new Sigma with similar enhancements, which may turn out to be better). But right now the Sony 11-18mm or Tamron 11-18mm (or old KM 11-18mm version) all remain a better buy for clean, sharp w/a zoom results.
