Kiron 28/f2 MD question

I picked up a used Kiron 28/2 and it arrived today. It is a MD Mount and I do have both glassless and with glass adapters. These were taken with A700. Are there any guidelines to get the best out of this lens? I am
finding on my A700 that I had dial down to -2 at min aperture to prevent over exposure. The evening sun was typical California summer sun.
