Is there a lens or are there lenses

That would get the best out of A900? Assuming they are used for appropriate type of photography. Instead of trying to get a best lens for a given genre of photography (e.g. landscape, portrait, macro etc) I am asking a different question. Answer may very well be xymm/fa.b from 123 is the best lens for A900 and that lens is mostly useful for (example) portraits.

The Sony CZ 135mm f/1.8 is an amazing lens. It can be used for many things like portraits, recitals, and many others.

I can tell you I have been really surprised at the quality of images delivered by the (1999) 24-85mm Minolta oldie, as a walkaround lens with decent close focus and very good resistance to nearly all common problems of CA, flare, distortion etc. It's not perfect but of all the full frame lenses I have tried, it is the one I would most like to see a modern version based on.

Roy, CZ is certainly one of those I am drooling over for sure.
David, is this a 3.5-4.5 lens?

Yes, it's the 3.5-4.5 - and one thing I like a lot about it is that my wide-open pix are sharp.
