How would you expect the Sony 35/1.8 to perform at f/2.8 and f/4 (in image quality, AF speed and AF accuracy) compared to the 30/2.8 macro which sells for the same price in the USA?

And how would the Sigma 30/1.4 (which sells for twice as much and much larger) compare at those apertures?

By comparison Nikon's 35/1.8, which came out a year and a half ago, is rated as excellent in those apertures by dpreview and photozone (although found to be somewhat soft wide open). Any word on whether the two 35/1.8s are related?

That's a good comparison that many will make when they go shopping, Mondatta. I'm sure there are quirks and perks for each of the lenses, but I don't think I've seen any samples yet from the 35/1.8. I know the Sigma 30/1.4 isn't really wildly recommended though. Personally, I'll be looking more closely at the new 35mm lens.
