Well, it appears T&S lenses will be (expensively) available in Alpha mount soon. According to this:

Schneider Kreuznach just announced two new T&S lenses, a 2.8 50 and a 4.0 90. I'm assuming FF, but no mention of it in the article.

50 and 90 mm are too narrow even at FF to interest me. I would be looking at 24 or 28 mm. Sonyalpharumors had an entry some time ago about a Sony patent application http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/new-sony ... s-patents/
I wonder if they are serious about this. If other rumours are correct that Sony has a long terms strategy to enter the prof. market then we may see a T&S or two along the line - particularly if a spectacular replacement for the A900/850 makes an appearance in 2011.

Yep, I just got to win that big one first, and we'll all party on my dime!

One thing you just gotta do when you come over is go fishing for Barramundi Dusty, it's a must trust me, my 20lb outfit (not actually mine though) stripped a cog or something (expensive Shimano Calcutta reel) after one too many Barra putting too much strain on it and it stopped working towards the end of the trip I went on, so I had to use the heavy tackle 50lb (for reef fish) from then on, but you don't get nearly as many hits, the fish can see the heavier line I think.....So yeah hurry up and win that big one.

Greg I don't worry about my tackle. Over here I mainly fish for spoonbill catfish, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoonbill_catfish and you have to let them go if they're under about 25 lbs. (It's actually based on length, but it usually works out at 25 lbs).

The biggest my group has caught is 78 lbs. My personal best is 63. So I use the big Penn 309 reels and 120lb test line.

We don't allow no sissy gear!

I have now seen and tried the Schneider lenses. They are the size of a 5 litre keg of beer each, let alone a beercan, and completely dedicated to studio still life work. They will cost maybe €3000 each and €4000 for the Mamiya 645 model in 120mm focal length.

I think I'll like to have a tilt and shift lens one day, but I got an Arca Swiss + Fujinon 210 f5.6 for 400 USS and I think I'll stick on it for a while (because I won't invest €3000 on a lens that I will barely use)

Too much beer - and you can get back adaptors for the Arca to fit your Sony anyway!

Kodak making a bit of a film comeback, modern film is indeed miles from the 2003 versions I last used, large prints at photokina from film are pretty amazing to be honest - but so are large prints from digital cameras. In fact, large prints now are all round better than large prints ever have been in the past.

Found a French beer called Desperados tonight - by mistake. 5.9% and flavoured with 'aromatic Tequila'... headache now!

In 1992 we used to say that Fuji 800 ASA had the grain of the Kodak 200 ASA of the late 80s. Then Kodak introduce the Ektar emulsion, wonderful thing...
The new film is even better, it was a surprise Kodak brought the Ektar again, specially after they state that they stopped the development on new emulsions. I have a couple of rolls and I'm trying to get a box of 4*5 film from the Kodak rep (who sell us overpriced paper...) In the meanwhile, I'll use Ilford and Fuji film on the Arca.

They say "berq" in french... Desperado is not really a good beer, just a marketing product extremely sweet introduced by the time of the movie of the same name (1995) that worked pretty well because Tex-Mex cuisine (fashion...) was a la mode.
If you want a sweet french beer, try Adelscott, from the same Brasserie, flavoured with whiskey malt.

ah! before you get back, pass by the Lensbaby booth and tell Craig Strong about Sony's plan to support third party makers, he "needs" to realize that his new Composer have to be done for adapt other lenses than Nikon...

Hangover headaches = braincell extinction, hmm pesky braincells who needs em, I've been getting along just fine without them....killed em off years ago. Actually a 'wise' ass person once told me he had a sure fire remedy for hangovers....stay drunk, he might even be onto something there...maybe.

Pako, Adelscott is the most foul thing ever invented. Liquid headache and even tastes like a headache. We have indeed tried it out of curiosity. The Desperados beer tasted more like a Corona with lime than anything else and was not unpleasant, Adelscott is a truly unpleasant experience - neatly as bad as the infamous 'Barley Wine' which was launched when I was a trainee reporter, and put the entire newsroom out of action... they delivered a crate as a sample, we all had one, and no-one could do any useful work after it!

If you knew the regular french beer, you'd understand why we drink wine here (or desperados)

German Supermarket: small selection of wine + huge special beverages part (Getränkemarkt) with zillions of liters of beer (sold in boxes of 20).
French Supermarket: 80cm wide section with beer, 20m wine section
Scottish Supermarket: Whiskey ???
English Supermarket: Tea ???

You'll be making Greg jealous, no grog in the supermarkets in Queensland...

In the Scottish supermarket you forgot all the lemonade used as a Whiskey extender.

I would also point out that much of what sells in French supermarkets as wine would sell in Australian supermarkets as vinegar or in hardware stores as (somewhat) organic industrial cleaner or paint stripper.

And the Australian beer, wine and spirits industries certainly won't hear a bad word about their millions of English customers. In complete contrast to the rest of us !
