I remember a while back and I checked on the internet and people saying the same that the sony sal1.4 TC didn't fit on the 70-300G. I know the kenko mc series were usable. I was just glancing through the sony site and under the specifications on the sonystyle site it says the 70-300G is compatible. Is this an error on the site? I thought only the sony TC worked on the 200G, 300G, 70-400G and new 500mm. Does anyone have a sony 1.4 TC that they can try on the 70-300G? I know it would only be manual focus. Maybe they changed the rubber around the glass to allow it to fit now, or did they change the TC fittings?
Just curious?

Hi Moater,
I don't have the 1.4TC, but have done a search for some answers regarding the use of it on the 70-300G. As I recall, the 70-300G isn't designed to fit on the Sony TC's and it will not mount.

If it says it's compatible with the 1.4X but not the 2X that may indeed be true. I know it does not work with the 2X as I had both items. But the 1.4X has a different front glass unit and might indeed fit.

You do have to be cautious with TC's, for example there is a note in my lens list of the older lenses that mention one Minolta TC that is not compatible with another G lens, (I'd have too look it up to get the exact info on which lens and TC it was), but I remember it saying that the front element in the TC will contact the rear element of the lens and damage both if used.

The TCs work also with the 70-200G and the STF, AFAIK.

The 1.4X works well with the 70-200G.
Will try on 70-400G but I expect manual focus only.
As I have a 100 macro I'll ty on that as well.
