Zoom Options

Unread post by cosmonaut1959 »

Well the only reason I have clung to the a77 after picking up the a99 was for the crop factor and the extra reach. But I am wanting to trim down and make life easier and not have to carry the extra body. So I am looking at a good zoom under a grand. I would like also to have the 1.4 tele converter if I need it and I understand it doesn't work on all lenses.
So what are some options? My only zoom as of now is the Carl Zeiss 70-300mm. Most likely it will be a wildlife lens more than anything else so focus speed will come into play as well.
Any ideas?

Not a lot of choice but I have the 70-400G which is great. Others would be a Sigma 150-500 or 50-500. Both are pretty good and a fair bit cheaper than the G.
For wildlife I'd have thought a fixed lens would have been preferable but obviously more expensive unless you can find an old Minolta 400.

All my Sony SLT gear gone. Still got my RX100 though.
