I've been very curious to try and make a pinhole camera out of my a700. It isn't a big investment, just the cost of a body cap, but I was wondering if anybody else here had done it. If anyone has tips on how to get the best results, I'd love to read them before I get started!

You need a precision pinhole aperture.
Examples:

The correct one to choose for a lens cap will be in the focal length range 40 to 50mm.

Kevin,
Interesting subject (the behavour of light) actually, the best info I found on the pinhole camera topic was here. Have a look, it's got the works includes the optimum pinhole size for a given distance from the "film plane" and ways of calculating the f/stop from that ratio and the "shutter time"

I am really curious about the results. I don't recall seeing pictures of pinhole camera with DSLRs.
Go ahead Kevin.

But I'm still curious how it will look on A700.
