Surprised this hasn't come up on the forum.
Initially I didn't expect a lot..however

This looks like a serious and reasonably affordable alternative to the 70-400mm G
Ok it's starting at f5 this isn't a fast lens, but at the 400mm mark it's f5.6 the same as the Sony

This could be a real hit for Tamron for longer focal length shooters.

This is a great lens to show to us/ and the whole world that third party can also do great lenses
From what I know it is as sharp as competitors at 400 mm with usable 600mm
I feel lucky that I did not buy the 80-400 AFS VR for my Nikon cameras. This one is a must by

16-35 ZA is also a great one, sharper than KM 17-35 f2.8-4

All the samples I've seen look very good even decent at the 600mm mark (if it's actually 600mm but few will care if it's a tad off)
Seems to be generating quite a bit of interest from users or all mounts. I'm glad Tamron and Sigma are stepping up their game lately it's showing up OEM makers for the rip off prices they've been getting away with for years.

For £2000 you can bag a Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 USD and when it's out a 150-600mm f5-f6.3

For £2500 you can only buy a new Sony 70-200mm GII

That's a stark difference and I think I know where most people will put their cash.
Has to be said with Sony's recent prices on their 50mm f1.4 CZ and this "new coatings" 70-200mm f2.8, I can't help but think they're actually shooting themselves in the foot quite badly.

The new Sony DSC-H400 aka Jock Itch (epidermal fungal infection) has a 24.5-1550mm f3.4-6.5 equivalent lens for $318.

With a zoom that long there has to be some big compromises in IQ especially as it only uses a tiny 1/2.3 sensor.

The bridge camera that's attracting my attention at the moment is the Olympus Stylus 1. Fitted with a more modest zoom with a constant F/2.8 and a larger 1/1.7 sensor along with the O-MD E-M5 processor and EVF. You can also like all Oly cameras turn the noise filter OFF at any ISO setting. Look at Robin Wong's Stylus 1 gallery, very impressive.

I'm sure a 20mp 1/2.3" sensor is going to blow APS-C and FF users away
I don't mind some of these bridge offerings but why bother with that model?

Fujifilm X-S1 is blowing out at £299 whilst it's 26x zoom might seem inadequate, it's probably enough for most. Least the sensor is half decent.
Big zoom cameras are ten a penny on the market from Fuji and other makers. No raw either so you can't bypass the nasty muddy jpeg engine.

The X-S1 was used during the Korean War by the Australian military, right? Didn't it often jam in cold weather? The X-S1 is now known as the Heartbreak of Psoriasis.

Yeah could be right H, but luckily I think they only had the one of those and they used to loan it out to the Kiwis when the weather went south, I’m pretty sure.

Sony would never compromise on quality.

Actually, the Stylus 1 does look like a pretty nice small sensor camera.

Probably a guy with a Jock Itch and a Heartbreak of Psoriasis would be a pretty lucky fellow. Could shoot whatever needs to be shot...as long as the conditions are right. A deadly combo.

I would love to have that lens! I wonder if I have enough old car parts still laying around to sell and try to get one? Does anyone know what the price is going to be?
