Hi everyone.
I am stuck as to what new lens I should purchase to improve images on my A580.
I currently use a Tamron 18-250 and a Tamron 70-300.
I have been looking at a couple of alternatives.
The Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM which I can pick up for around £550 or the Tamron 70-200mm SP F2.8 Di IF Macro - Sony Fit.
I take a lot of sports pics and wildlife.
Recently went on holiday to Egypt and mostly used the 70-300 for wildlife pics. At a family wedding I used the 18-250.
Any advice appreciated.

Re: Lens advice for Alpha A580
Looking at your portfolio and what you already have, I'd go for the big Sigma - they may not be around at the current price for long because the 150-600mm has taken over their slot, and the 500mm version is actually discontinued. And a bargain!

If you are looking for a standard zoom, the Sigma 18-35 is hard to beat. Otherwise Sony produces 16-50f2.8 and 16-85f3.5-4.5ZA

Perhaps also look for a secondhand Sony 70-400G. Excellent image quality on both APS-C and full frame. I believe it is one of the best if not the best in the focal range.
The Sigma 150-500 is good and a bargain at the moment. The newer lenses are supposed to be better but quite a lot more expensive (Tamron 150-600 and the 2 versions of the Sigma 150-600) and are too new to be available secondhand.
I can vouch for the 70-400G as it is my primary lens for aviation shots.

All my Sony SLT gear gone. Still got my RX100 though.

Those are beauties, Mike. I especially like the light and colour in the sky in the first. Oh, and +1 for the 70-400 too
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Cheers Andy, and one from this Monday in stunning light (A99 + 70-400G).

A friend has the Sigma 150-500mm I've never used it but they are dead happy with it so I'll pass that one (for the money it looks good)

I agree with Barry and Andy. Those are beautiful, sharp pictures.
