Amazing picture. Thanks for the link, I missed that one. I suppose I would never have the patience to deal with that lens.

Here a counter example, made with a lousy Sigma 400 f5.6 APO, cropped like h.e.l.l., little detail, but ... my mother liked it.

What's the name of the crater with the longest radial spikes?...(lower middle)
What's the name of the most reflective crater?...(upper left)
Can you point out where Apollo 11 landed and name the Mare?
Which is Nubium?

First one to get them right wins an A900......just kidding.

In Dr Harout's moon image, start at the center of the moon, go half-way towards the right (east) rim and then a third of the way up to the northern rim. There, near the south-western border of the Mare Tranquillitatis, the Eagle landed on July 20th, 1969, 20:17 h GMT, and thus created 'Tranquility Base' (Lat 0° 41' 56" N, Lon 23° 26' 0" E).

The A900... errr "it's in the mail"

I could answer anything - late in 2006, Patrick Moore's agent emailed me offering one of the last 20 existing first editions prints of his 1969 Map of the Moon signed by Sir Patrick himself for £50. Needless to say, I jumped on this one, and got it framed. It is one of our larger framed pictures.
