Comparison of KM A2 and KM 5D for travel

If you were travelling afar afield for 2 weeks (flying there) and wanted to take a digital camera to accompany a pair of Minolta Dynax 5 films and to use the results for photo competitions, would you take
a) The KM A2 with 8Mb but smaller pixels (lens equivalent 28 - 200mm)
or
b) The KM 5D with 6MB but larger pixels (with say a fixed 18 - 200 lens, equivalent to 27 - 300mm in 35mm)

Any advice/experience ?

Agree with Sonolta - 5D. When we got the 7D and 5D, the A2 stayed behind. But I do still use it, and with care it produces results which could be fine in competitions. They certainly have no problem selling through Alamy.

Thanks to both of you for your advice.

My question now is - which 18 - 200 lens should I buy that I will be able to use both with the 5D (digital) and 9xi (film) ?

The Tamron 18 - 250 that is recommended is only for digital , isn't it ?
So do I go for a Tamron 18 - 200 or a Minolta 18 - 200 or a Sony 18 - 200 ?
Or even a Sigma 18 - 200 ?
But I would assume that the Sony is also digital only and will it work on the 5D,
unlike the Sony 70 - 300 SSM ?

The 18-200 are not full frame either and not suitable for film.

There are some 28-200 and 28-300 that are suitable for film, but they have a rather bad reputation and 28mm on a KM5D is not wide enough.

70-300 SSM is full frame.

...but not will not autofocus if used on a 9xi, as it does not support SSM.
