Sony warranty repair?

I bought an a700 a few months ago but have been finding the images to be marginally soft. Now I've heard that some people have found that a trip to Sony for warranty repair does not always improve the situation although I cannot remember whether this was in the US or UK. Has anyone had any experience with focus adjustment under Sony warranty?

Most of the problems you hear about I suspect are people mis-diagnosing the problem. Then they send their cameras in and SOny shrugs and sends it back. so many threads end in sample pictures that show hokey lighting. too many repetitive pattterns or poor set ups to test the focus area. Maybe you could post your test image here with exif or maybe some of the real world images you feel are soft.
