Controlling A700 from computer. Questions....

Unread post by johnday1 »

"Hi" forum members :-)

I am a Minolta 7D owner and am still thinking about the A700.

I can't seem to find detailed information about how the software works, and its features, for controlling the A700 from a computer.

I am specifically interested in running bracketing sequences from the computer. Does the software expand the capability already existing on the camera?

Can the user select an EV range greater than 1.0 EV?

Thanks in advance.

I have not used it yet but I believe not. The software gives you access to all the firmware functions of the camera, but does not extend these, other than to allow control of triggering and storage. I must get round to experimenting with this. I don't know of any remote transfer/control software which actually extends the range of bracketing, over-ride or WB (etc) available on any DSLR.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply.... (I got zero response from this on dpreview, btw.)

Your answer is what I expected..., unfortunately. I guess I'll have to wait and see what Sony does with the Flagship.

I am enjoying your input on the 'net, regarding the Sony DSLRs, btw :-) Thanks!
