Sony A100 Flash

Hi all.

I am a newbie to this forum and I am seeking some advice.

12 months ago I purchased the Sony Alpha 100. It was my first step into Digital Photography. I presently own 2 Flashes :-

Vivitar 636AF and Sunpack auto 266D which I use on my Minolta 7000 SLR. as I am still keen on Slide Photography.

My question is : does anybody in this forum know of an adapter of some kind that will let me use the 2 flashes on the A100?

Welcome Nino.

Yes, a Minolta FS-1100 or Sony FAHS1AM will allow this, though you don't get auto TTL, you must use the flash unit thyristor auto exposure ('Auto' not 'TTL' setting) or manual control. Go to ebay and look for Minolta FS-1100 and you will find a stack of Hong Kong sellers with copies of this adaptor for around $10 plus post. They work fine even if they are ugly!

I have been looking into the use of the two flashes that I have and I am a little worried that I read that the continual use of these types of flashes, might damage the sensor over time.

Does any one know if this is the case

The flashes can not damage the sensor. Simple as that!
