How is the old Minolta "Big Beercan" compared to the Tamron lens regarding photoquality such as sharpness, bokeh etc.
I've read so many positive posts regarding the bbc on Dyxum and other sites. But is it really that good?

I have never used bbc on digital, so can not tell you. I know it was excellent on film but the minimum focus distance was inconvenient. The appeal of the Tamron is partly due to very good close focusing on the current LD Di model.

I used it quite a bit on my A200. it works well and is very short epecially stopped down but will produce strong CA in conditions that traditionally produce it.

this is an A700 shot but it shows CA in front of the cat on the snow and you can also see where the CA dissapears against a light background.
