I certainly look forward to reading David Kilpatrick's detailed comparison of the A55 with A580. Not that it will change anything for me as I have committed myself to the A580 and now also the NEX-5 two lens kit. That is in addition to my DSC-R1, A700, A350 and A550. I also have the Panasonix LX2 and 3. My son uses my old A700 and my wife my old A350. They are both happy. My son needs my A350 as back-up when he is away (10,000 images per trip). I am fully equipped for the next few years with cameras and really only now desire the new motorised Tamron 70-300 when available in A-mount. For my type of photography for fun and Alamy, camera development has reached a stage where, whatever improvements are introduced, they will make no difference to me. It is telling that David thinks that the A55/580 can output files, which when uprated to 24Mp size are Indistinguishable from A900 files. No doubt the APS-C files will be better at high ISO settings.
