Why does Conikon come out better on the web?

There are some video boards that include shills who immediately attack Sony products and lead the memebers to Canon, Panasonic, or Red products.

I've never noticed any of this with Sony or JVC products. No one pushes Sony or JVC products there.

Sony employees, even contract personnel, are not allowed to post on the boards.

Panasonic top marketing people in the past came constantly to certain boards to promote their cameras, which were suppoosed to be revolutionary and superior to Sony cameras, although it always turned out that it was not true. One of Panasonic's top marketing people , a woaman, came out to several boards to repeatedly say that their camera is superior to Sony's, even months before the camera was released. When it was released, this practice continued, although the camera was inferior.

There is a major board, where the main poster gets paid from Panasonic on unrelated business.

There is another board, where the owner gets paid by Canon on unrelated business.

Canon makes a video camera with sony processors and chips and it has the same resolution as a less expensive Sony camera, still the board owner comes on the board constantly to "rectify" posters, stating that the Canon is better. If you do not agree, you are banned from the site.

The worst sites are Reduser, which promotes Red cameras and DVXuser, which promotes Panasonic cameras. They are both owned by the same man. Go to Cinematography.com and check what real cinamatographers have to say about Red cameras. These people call them a joke, although even this board is full of Red shills. You find Red cameras in the High definition section there.

Does one wonder, who nominated the Canon "pretty" boy from DP Review for PMA award? Canon? Nikon?

A900 is a real photographers camera. Still the DP boy had the nerve to give it "just" in its rating and suggested that it should be selling for $2K.

DP tested advanced P&S cameras and in all tests Sony came in on the top, with Canon and Panasonic. it never mentioned other superior Sony features, like high speed focus. Olympus came out in the main categories in the bottom. Still it made the Recommended rating, wheras Sony received no rating.

The way Barry was attacking Sony from the beginning on DP was truly unbelievable. He made some real enemies. Only that made him stop. He did not even own Sony DSLR at that time.

The boards are generally a very crooked business. I congratulate owners of this site to keep it honest.

If someone objets to what I am saying here, I have real life examples, names, etc.

I don't know about web sites/forums

But I spend a bit of tme, in camera store, just listening to the sales pitches, even in the bigest Sony reseller in Melbourne.
When some in asking for Sony gear, they have nothing but praise and really talk up the Sony camera.

But when someone comes in looking for a DSLR and are newbies with no current SLR kit, they just want to upgrade from PS. And have no idea what to buy.
they only cameras that get mentioned are Canon and Nikon, even if the customer mentions other brands, they will state, things like yer Sony have in built IS. But if you want the best Pictures, Nikon and Canon will always give you better results even in low light so you don't even need to buy a better flash. and many of the salesmen like to end their pitch with "don't take my word for it, have a look at http://www.dpreview.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; they have the best reviewers"

Dyxum is honest. DP Review is totally biased, their main man gives me the creeps. If I met him at night, I would be watching my back. I don't know why Amazon does not fire him and does not get there someone with some integrity. Used car salesmanship is what DP Review is all about, in a very crooked sneaky way. I think he and Barry should have a cheap wedding.

Oh dear here we go again.

I have been critical of sony, in many ways..but I have also said some nice things..esp A200 price etc etc.
And I think I had some valid point, A100 was released at too high a price, lens prices etc, bionz raw. But if I hated sony that much, do you think I would buy an Alpha if that were the case? Obviously I wouldn't. Things have got better, and I have not stopped making suggestions and pushing forward ideas, note the recent MLU threads. And I would not back down because a few people on forums don't like it..but there is a point to it all, esp with regards a firmware update A200/300/350.

I def don't work for panasonic, in fact you can browse my history and see I have been pretty critical of them too. Ditto on samsung, critical of their recent ho hum batch of compacts.

I don't get freebies of any description from any camera companies, not even an pen, nor a lens cap ;-) I have had freebies off of only one company, and that is unrelated, AMD sent me some free stuff, but don't get too worked up, T shirt and notepads, folder etc. Nothing mind blowing..but hey, I didn't complain, I got that as I am a registered channel partner..

I love conspiracy theories, but there really is nothing to see here! Heck I sure wish I were getting paid by makers, def done enough work on posting etc..lol

Frankly A1000 most of us do not have shares in Sony and, therefore, would not feel an obligation to do marketing for Sony.

If Sony feel ill done by by Canon/Panasonic etc. they could allow their own employees the same freedom. Clearly Sony do not feel disadvantaged or they are not able to devise an effective counter strategy.

I chose Sony R1 and then A700 & A350 because at the time these appeared to be the best choices for me, not because I wanted to support Sony. I want Sony to continue releasing better APS-C cameras because of my requirements rather than to improve on Sony's P&L accounts.

I value the information being provided on this site, but really we are not here to support or have sympathy with Sony but rather (I believe) to enrich ourselves and improve on our photography.

Camera fanboys might just be the saddest thing I have ever heard of. Sure I like my Sonys, but I feel no need to slam down other brands. This is very common on DPreview where people go trolling in the other camera sections. I avoid that forum most of the time now.

One more thing that is sad is when the old guard refuses to see the newer brands on the market, they act like Canon and Nikon are the only choises. Wake up.
