I have the V4 firmware saved to my computer ,and would like some info on getting it installed on to my A 700.I understand as far as loading it on to a memory card and inserting into camera-but no further than that.Would also like to know if this upgrade will do anything to help noise reduction at higher ISo -and any other benefits that it may bring

I would highly recommend installing V4. Here are the steps to carry:

1- Just copy the firmware on a formatted (by the camera) and empty card (CF or MS, doesn't matter).
2- Switch the camera on while holding (pushing) the "menu" button
3- your camera will ask you if you want an upgrade. Reply "OK"

Just be sure your battery has enough power (more than 40%)

It will definitely help noise reduction on higher ISOs.

After installing the firmware 4.0 don't forget to set the "High ISO NR" to off, from the menu.

... and don't forget it will probably zero your photos/shutter count ... well it did on mine (and with all previous firmware upgrades too) :(
After upgrading, if you want to keep your numerical sequence, put a memory card in with the last photo you took before the upgrade still on it.
