i forgot to put my cf card back in the camera, went to take a pic and got the dread message, dejected i started to use my ricoh gx200 after about 10 minutes i remembered that when i got the camera i had put in a sony duo card , switched over to that and hey presto , a happy man. pity sony never made it auto changeover

As for the automatic option, that too should be optional not mandatory.

Logically, it should. If you can change the destination within the menu, than it can be automated, with priority to CF or MS and automatically or manually changed.
I have a hunch that Sony will do that with an updated software, but as default giving the automatic priority to MS... I could definitely be wrong, but something tells me...

I asked this question to the Japanese designer at the 900 launch (twin card slot firmware). He was really emphatic - shook his head, said 'no!' - we can not do that. He either said 'not possible' or 'impossible', can't remember which.

What might be impossible is to write a raw to one card and the jpg to the other in parallel - would need parallel hardware somehow.

My Sony V3 has a switch on the back to select which card (CF or MS). No copying or crossover as far as I know. Oh well.

I'm not a fan of MS cards, but I wouldn't mind a backup slot.

Yeah the designer was probably the same one who stuck the card write light exactly where you put your thumb on the A200

Of course it's possible, else how would Nikon manage it??
