Zone matching for less noise

Since I've read so many comments suggesting the A700 exposes to the left, especially on high ISO, and that contributes to more noise in the images I was wondering if anyone used low-key zone matching instead of increasing exposure compensation... I want to try it but I don't have time right now (too much work), so I thought on asking first. I'm really interested on real facts, based on real tests, not in the theory of zone matching...

Yes, I only shoot RAW too, but even when shooting RAW and enabling ZM the exposure will change (just like when using DRO). Sorry I didn't specify but my question really was... is there any difference using low-key zone matching with RAW other than the increased exposure? I mean, is it any different that just adjusting the EV manually? (always using RAW)

I don't, just wanted to be sure that the only thing it affects when using RAW is exposure
