These are great pictures and, of course, the photographer has also got the best lenses to do justice to the camera. Not being an American I was wondering about the location. Seems to be somewhere up in the Oregon/Washington state area. Truly fantastic. I am always encouraged when I see results like these taken with Sony equipment. Hopefully they will continue to produce excellent photographic tools above the A2/300 line as there I rate their latest effort to be a backward step. Let us all hope that the new A5/800 series cameras are more like the A900 for quality and performance.

He makes reference to the "Olympic Range", which would be the Olympic Mountain Range, so these would have been taken along the coast of the state of Washington. IMO, the coastline is gorgeous - and has a somewhat similar character - all the way from the northern part of the state of California through Oregon and the southern part of Washington state.

Personally, my favorite area along that coast is the southern half of the state of Oregon. Some of the most magic moments I have ever had with a camera have been early in the morning on that coast, with a bit of fog on the water. I think the appeal is almost universal, as the last time I was there was with my daughter's family, and everyone felt it was an incredible experience - including my granddaughters, who were 6 and 7.5 years of age at the time.

Yes I believe that this is at Point of Arches, at the northwest corner of the Olympic Peninsula, of the state of Wasjington, and of the United States, across the strait from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

The images are truly gorgeous, but so otherworldly I wasn't placing them in the US until I saw the bald eagle. There are sea stacks like these further down the coast at Cannon Beach and about 50-70 miles south of Florence, both on the coast of Oregon, but not so strange as these. It makes sense, however, for the Olympic Peninsula, the Pacific coast of which is covered, I believe, by a temperate rain forest--hence the mist and the trees growing so well on the tops of stacks.

I'd love to see it. And I'd love to have the equipment that captured these images.
