1) DxO released an update yesterday that fixes the A900 green colour cast. The updates also supports the A850!! It doesn't do anything else, it's a pure Sony update.

2) The explanation became clear today. The full DxO Elite package is included with the A850 "in some European countries". Sony must have been impressed with the software!

This is why we’ve had a chance to calibrate an Alpha850 before product launch.

That's a nice bit to add to the mix! Whoever it was that was worried about ACR not handling the CA on an 850 now has no need to worry - IF he's in one of those "select European countries"!

It also takes away one of my main issues with DxO, the slow speed at which they update their camera / lens database. What this means, if this relationship continues, is that DxO will be one of the first RAW packages to have Sony camera and lens support - quite a new situation for us!

Hell, they could buy DXO like they bought the KM DSLR business.

The more I use DxO , the more I like it, if you have supported Camera/lenses it's even better. at present DxO see's my Sigma 18-50 DC D has a Sigma 12-24 lens, I think Sigma use the same lens ID, if I take photo between 18 and 24mm I get access to the extra controls

Well, that puts an interesting twist in the Silkypix 'error rumour' which I started when Warehouseexpress listed Silkypix with Sony cameras. DxO is even better.

I have upgraded my DxO to the latest version, downloaded Imageresource raw files, shot Alpha 900 raws to match them - the A850 is inferior to the A900 as far as I can tell. It has more noise, not less, at 6400, before DxO works its magic. This is not a strict comparison so I don't plan to go public with it. I believe on the basis of what I have seen that the A850 will not be proven superior to the A900 (even with existing firmware).
