Photoclubalpha

I consider to buy an Alpha-mount FF camera and wonder which one to buy. The A850 or A900.

THE differences between these two are offen discribed als marginal, but also als significant in terms of filmlike pictures.

Please share your thoughts and experiences with the FF camera's with me.

I am wondering too, is it really FF that you need?

Brand new? only the A900 is available now...

Haven't tried any of them but can't see why there would be a difference on image quality? The sensor is the same. 900 has faster fps and better build quality, but speaking in terms of image quality.. Both seems great

Alpha-mount.

And yes, Dr. Harout, I realy like to buy a FF camera.
I prefer the DOF of a FF camera.

The A850 and A900 are still available new.
If you know how to find them.
My question remains: are significant differences noted in the field?

Is the A900 more durable painted?
Does the A900 produce more filmlike pictures?
Etc.

Nope

Nope, the finish is different (the A900 is more metal-like) but that's it.

Not at all. No "improvement" even if the A850 is one year younger.

If you need 5fps, get the a900. If not, get the 850. Simple as that.

I would just question the wisdom of spending that kind of money to carry something around on a mountain bike. Surely not a safe practice at the best of times?

So we see with the change of thread title that the question is/was NOTHING to do with Mountain biking, and a topic which has been WELL covered else where.

Let's ease the dilemma a bit:
1- Can you wait for a while to make the purchase?
2- if yes, then what kind of FF do you need: SLT or DSLR

I thought the A850 and A900 are now discontinued?
I see most places don't have stock some note backorder so I would think by the new year you'd have a fairly low chance of getting one brand new.

I'm sure an SLT FF will arrive though soon enough
