a850 VF ?

Well I picked up a used a850. I have most of figured out and am setting up the way I like it. Looking into the finder and when using the scale meter there doesn't seem to be enough adjustment on the scale. Either I am dead on exposure with the indicator or off of the scale. Is the shutter speed indicator the only way to tell if if I am + or - exposure or can I custom set the scale? I could custom set this on my Olympus cameras. I have it set to .3ev if that means anything.
