Looks another one of those famous DPR rumours, my mum's hairdresser has a rellie who works for a guy who knows someone in a camera shop etc.
but OTOH there is always a chance that it could be true of course, I think they have done this before haven't they? just started shipping new model cameras out to the Chinese camera stores without any fanfare or announcements per-se, sooo I wouldn't be too surprised if it came true.

It's certainly a photo that has done the rounds for a while, but it isn't a 700 - too pointy on the top

Actually, when I clicked this link Earlier it was the pre-production a700, the model that was displayed along side the "flagship" at PMA 2007. The image displayed now is the first mock-up/prototype flagship, indicated by the very perfectly geometrical point on top and the arrangement of covered plugs on the left-hand side.

Yes, they have the correct camera photo now, they must have been contacted about the blooper.
