A900 - Awesome

Unread post by RobbieA »

Had the A900 in my hands tonight. What an awesome piece of technology. Very simular to my A700 except for the LCD screen on the top RHS and no pop up flash. Image quality fantastic. Was using the 70-200 and 300mm G lenses. Images pin sharp and so so smooth.. Going to be pricey in our market in South Africa but once again, great value considering what you getting.

Thank you Dr Harout. Been lurking around here forever, but felt that my news was good to post. I really love my A700, will not swap it easily for anything else, but the A900 is certainly a beast to be reckoned with. Sony is really taking the other players on head to head, and as I understood it last night, their goal is to be no 2 in this market very very soon!

Hi,
Did you play with the camera at a SonyStyle shop, a photo store or a trade show?
I want to go to the SonyStyle store here in NYC and play with that beauty too, but "my contact" told me that they don't have it yet

Good goal but are they really (I mean REALLY) going to overturn one of the Canikon two?

I honestly can't see it unless all the movie stuff and live view etc makes some people look at them less like DSLR's and more like oversized compacts and reject them.

Much as I love my A700, and much as I am sure the A900 is also fantastic, I just don't see that it compares so favourably with the competition that people will buy it instead of them.

It was at a specialist photo store, with the South African Sony DSLR product manager and managing director. We don't have SonyStyle shops over here.. This is Africa, third world remember.. haha.. I believe that we were the first consumers worldwide to touch and play with the camera. No stores have any stock yet and won't have till i is officially released at Photokina next week. The cameras were brought by the Sony guys, and taken back by them.. no matter how hard we tried to twist their arms.. hehe
