Since this flower was blowing around and vibrating, I need a fast shutter speed (1/250th) with the 100mm macro at f4 after sunset. I underexposed a lot at ISO 200 and pushed the processing from ARW using ACR 4.6, by 2.3 stops plus extra brightness, vibrancy and clarity (but not saturation). It's a noisy result without anything more than ACR default NR but I like the colour and the bokeh.

So... that's not bad, not bad at all. The next picture on your camera (previous posted image) was sharp too.
As for the ducks, well it's a formidable picture.

ACR 4.6 seems to be free from 'ringing' or halo artefacts, at least when no sharpening is applied. Sizing-down also seems to work well. Colours are good. Noise or grain and watercolour effects etc - not really sure yet. I am trying to use the camera as I would want to use a full frame DSLR, for subjects which benefit.

There definitely are ringing artifacts in Camera Raw 4.6, as in all ACR versions---they look like halos around high-contrast edges but they are set off a tiny bit from the actual edge. The artifacts appear always when upsizing or downsizing, and sometimes even when just cropping. However they are tiny; you have to look very carefully to notice them ... but then you'll start seeing them everywhere. And those ringing artifacts have nothing to do with sharpening ... well, except that sharpening will of course emphasize them, so sharpened artifacts are easier to see.

I am very familiar with the 'ringing' artefact because I have always upsized for Alamy, and any degree of sharpening makes them evident (not in all images, it does call for a bright/dark boundary to show them up). So far with the A900, which can not be upsized in ACR (its native size is the maximum!) I have not seen them, though the during the intermediate image-building stage the precursor of them is clearly there in the deBayer process. The A900 has files which can be downsized for Alamy, and the result - to me anyway - seem very clean.
