It is a transformation, agreed - sharp, uncompromised detail and a noise structure you can process out rather more easily than you can get Birman fur off a loop pile carpet

Excellent and thanks Don.
I made some shots too with the Macro lens.I don't think it would be interesting to see, but the subject was a red paper with a seal of the post office on it and a visit card under tungsten light and shot from 40 cm or so. Even at 6400 the details were quite acceptable.

Lovely shots Sonalta, I particularly like the photo of Dolph, Skorange certainly looks a confident and proud feline. There's something about cats eyes, they just look fantastic, that high gloss glass like appearance surrounded by that soft fur. I upgraded the new firmware also. Have not done any deliberate tests but took the camera and the new lens for a spin at my sons Pedal Prix this weekend and just messed around with a few settings etc. Once Ive sorted the photos I'll post a few. Here's a shot of Hercules one of our Abbys...cats can smile.
What you see depends on what you're looking for.

Sonolta,
Great cat shots. The A700 is even MORE desirable to me now than ever! Superb detail.
Question: how in heck did you get the eyes so sharp? What setting did you use for focusing,
or did you use manual?
I try to get MY cats, and the results are so blurry... well, their eyes are. Sometimes they
incredibly sharp noses, or ears.... I know my A100 is MUCH more limited than the A700,
but STILL, I would like to approach the sharp eyes.
So, please share your secret.... unless you have to kill us all after revealing it....
