I think the 2sec/10sec function may be timed by a separate clock, part of the shutter-mirror mechanism. It is shared by several cameras over the years, and on the A700, can not be used with the remote release. That points to it being a fairly rigid process (or they could easily have modded it to work with the wireless release). Also, the A900 is missing the 2-sec mirror up mode, and only has mirror lockup mode. Both are useful and it's odd they have omitted the 2-sec delay.

It would have been sooooo nice if the remote comander was a separately selectable function outside of the "Drive Mode" menu. There have been many times when I would have loved to use the remote in conjunction with another of the drive modes...of course this would work to the exclusion of continuous burst shooting.

David, I understand from the A900 manual p 85 and confirmed by another poster (Nordstjernen) on DPR that MLU with the 2 second timer in the camera ( not the IR remote), does indeed work just as it did in the A700.

Correct. I was basing my statement on someone else - I had not even checked to see. I even think that this was mentioned during the press briefing and no-one corrected the mistake. Looks as if a small change in the interface has fooled almost everyone who has been using the A900, but the word will spread fast enough that it has 2-sec mirror up, 10 sec standard, manual mirror-up options.

Just to see, I have been trying the mirror-up mode and it seems to produce just an edge in extra sharpness even if you use it hand held with two presses, and put up with a short blackout.

Haven't heard of the 'negative' yet

The list of negative points about the A900 are very small, unfortunately I will have to wait until the price drops a bit further.

My list of things missing from the A900 (relative to my A700):

No Grip sensor/eyestart AF - probably won't miss that.
No Scene Modes on dial - only kidding
No pop up flash for wireless flash control - I would settle for a small cheap wireless controller that fits on the hotshoe.
Cannot use A mode with things like telescopes, microscopes. (Have to use M mode)
No Hard LCD protector.( I think)

Still got silly firmware bugs with ISO buttons that light up LCD display when eye is at the VF.
I think they could have done something better with a mask for cropped lenses in the VF.

I also would wait until Apple support the A900 in Aperture...
